I decided to let Drew get up early from his "rest-time". If he helped me do a little work around the house, I would reward him with getting to watch a movie with Mommy while Ty slept. So I walked into his room and it took all my will power not to turn around and walk back out. With one little blue crayon, Drew had turned two walls into his most recent display of artwork. We had a long talk about appropriate coloring surfaces and consequences of coloring on the wall. I then told him I would help him scrub it off the wall. I thought things were going well until I started to work on a long skinny line...
"NOOOOO! DON'T SCRUB OFF MY SNAKE!!!"
Clearly, our long discussion of coloring on the appropriate surfaces was not long enough!
This morning just as we were getting up, Drew turned to me:
"Mommy, someone 'bless you'd' and woke me up."
"I'm sorry Drew, that was mommy. I'm still sick."
"That bless you was a really loud noise!"
"I'm sorry. Did you need to sleep longer?"
(nods head with a bit of whine) "yeah..."
"Ok, lets go back to bed then."
"Nope. I ok!"
Ty, the morning after waking up during the night with a bad dream:
"Monkey! Room! Scary!"
"You were scared of the monkey in your room?"
"Yeah." (points to ceiling and circles around the fan)
"Ty, what does the monkey say?"
"Oo! Oo! Ah! Ah!"
"I think that is funny, not scary. Don't you?"
Drew: "Monkey IS funny Ty"
Ty: "Oo! Ah! hahahahaha Funny scary monkey!"
I think this one needs a little more reassurance!
This evening at dinner, I was encouraging Ty to eat.
"Ty, please eat your dinner."
"I can't!"
"Ty, you need to eat your dinner."
I turned to feed Jude another bite and I hear him mumble.
"Open please."
I looked back at him and he was holding his fist in front of his face, staring at it. Then, his fingers popped open, he said "Thank you!" and picked up a bite of pizza and put it in his mouth. How many kids do you know who use their manners with their own fingers??
