Camping

We experienced our first camping weekend together. We met up with my parents and sister. It was interesting at times with the four of us in a tent, but we had a lot of fun. The shower facilities at the park left a lot to be desired, so we took a drive to Lake Michigan and washed up in the FRIGID water. It was so cold we instantly went numb. Drew had fun playing in the sand and Ty was fine as long as he wasn't touching the water! I got a great action shot of Drew playing catch with Nana. We also took advantage of the chance to get everyone together for a big birthday celebration. Evan and Lydia came out for dinner and we celebrated Evan's, Celeste's and Pete's birthdays. Drew really liked the frosting, can you tell? The only other big news is that we took the leap and moved Drew into his "big-boy" bed. He knows he can get in and out, but so far it has yet to occur to him that he can get up and play with toys when he should be in bed. So the transition has gone extremely well and easy...for now. Next step, moving Ty into Drew's room. Brothers sharing a room, will this promote unity or discord? We shall see!
Pete starts his classes next Monday. We are trying to pack a bunch of fun into this last week we have before the craziness starts. For now, over and out!

Wow, time really flies! We've been having such a good time doing all kinds of things this summer. We have enjoyed several visits from Pete's parents. And thanks to everyone who has been praying for Pete's dad. With his treatments, the cancer is arrested! Please continue to pray!

Ty is sort of, almost, maybe mobile? He manages to spin in a circle every now and then...and he can find his way backwards under the couch. A couple of times I have walked into the living room to discover he was missing. He's not crawling yet, and still doesn't really try. He is, however, now playing paty-cake. It's pretty cute. He'll clap for a bit, then stop, cock his head to the side, grin and shake his head no!

We took the boys to the parade for the Pure Water Days festival. They had all kinds of activities going on all weekend. Drew got into the bands and danced along side the road as they went by. He entertained many people! We also headed over to the Dunn county fair with some friends. Ty zonked out for a nap while walking around, but Drew enjoyed some good fair food, petting animals, and climbing on tractors. We also met my Aunt and Uncle from Oregon at the Mall of America. They were passing through on their way to the UP and we visited and had dinner with them before moving on.

This weekend we are meeting up with my sister and parents on the eastern side of the state for some camping. Pete's classes start again soon and we are determined to make the most of the last couple of weeks! I have tried multiple times to add photos to this entry, and for some reason they are not showing up. I will try again later and upload just the photos...but for now, over and out!

Messes

Some conversations or monologues, whichever the case may be, overheard by parents of toddlers can be a bit interesting, funny, or spark fear. Today's lunch-time event was one of the latter. Drew was overheard saying, "pee - pee. fruit. uh-oh. Mess! Mess!" I founds his fruit, strawberries and blueberries, all mashed up with the crust of his peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Then it was spread across the table, that which was not mashed into the table was flung across the table. Then the last of his milk was dumped atop the sandwich/fruit mixture. Quite the sight. Ty had a few Cheerios on the floor. Tell me that it isn't hard to not have a favorite at times!
