Drew is quite entertaining these days - well, really, when isn't he? He is big into role playing right now. He loves to ride his little Elmo car around the house. When I am in the living room and he is ready to ride to the kitchen the conversation is something like this: "Bye Mommy!" "Bye Drew! Drive Careful!" "Yes! Miss you! See you soon!" "See you soon!" And he'll ride off into the kitchen, a whole ten feet away. Shortly he's back, announcing a proud "I missed you Mommy! Welcome home!" And if I don't answer right away with a "welcome home" back, he'll repeat it until I do. He also likes to imitate the bedtime routine and asks for help to get cozy with his night-night. Five seconds later a yell in your ear tells you it's time to "Wake up! Are you good?" And don't forget the imaginary friend who hides in the closet - although at this point, all imaginary friends are still his real friends who just aren't there at the time. They all seem to "Come in Peace!".
The boys were enjoying story time with Daddy the other night. I had to grab a picture since it will most likely be a rare occurrence now that he is back in classes. See Auntie? Drew has the ever-present Lightning McQueen in his hand!
Last week was the week for company. It was a welcome change of pace compared to us being home alone most of the time. With the car not running well, the boys and I are a bit stranded while Pete is at class or work. With company on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, this week is starting out a little slow! Drew had kids to play with on Monday and Friday, and on Wednesday Nana and Great-Grandma came for a short one-day visit. Both boys just ate up the attention! While it was a fun day, it was a little hard to say good-bye knowing we may not see them again until after Weebo makes an appearance. Here Drew is saying his "Good-bye! Thanks for coming! See you soon! Drive careful!" monologue to his friend Ashlyn.
And now, for a little spotlight on Ty, he is starting to walk!! They are just short, hesitant steps. It's quite obvious he is afraid of falling and only moves when he is confident that he will not end up on the floor. He's made about ten to twelve steps at a time, but because they are so hesitant, he doesn't make it very far. One step closer! Yay Ty!! Ty is also in the music loving phase and will start bopping and swaying with even just a short blip of music - commercials for example.
The boys are also doing really well playing and interacting together. One of my favorite sounds is the two of them laughing together as they play - even if it gets quite loud! No complaints from the neighbors - yet!
