Date Night

Last night, for the first time in a long-overdue while, Pete and I got a date night. The older two muffins were left in very capable hands. Grandma and Grandpa came to watch them at home and they all had fun. Pete and I headed off on our way to a lodge somewhere in the middle of nowhere. We had heard they had good food and was only about 45 minutes away. So we get to this very nice looking lodge to discover they are open six days a week. Closed on Monday. It was Monday. Nice. Out in the middle of nowhere and not knowing where to find the next closest place to eat. So we hopped on another road and drove another 45 minutes to Marquette - knowing Grandma could get our older muffins into bed just fine. After a call to my very helpful and capable sister, and the help of Google Maps, she got us to the right part of town to find a good place to eat. Jude, by this time, decided it was time for him to eat and was not being too patient. We saw a Lowe's and Pete decided to walk around while I nursed Jude. He didn't have his cell phone with, so he was just going to come back in fifteen to twenty minutes. He didn't even make it to the door before things unraveled farther. I picked up Jude out of his car seat and discovered a mess. He had filled his diaper...a slimy stinky mess through the diaper, through the outfit and into the car seat. Yep...a big mess. So I climbed into the back of the van to start cleaning him up only to realize the diaper bag was missing. No diapers, no wipes, no spare outfits. No phone to call Pete. Hungry crying baby. So I did what anyone would do. Pulled off the pants, hiked up his shirt, tore two holes in the bottom of a Wal-Mart bag, and stuffed him in!!
