So there is a big reason as to why there have been no updates for awhile. Pete was offered a new job; we weighed the decision and he chose to accept. So we moved half way across the country. We arrived in Colorado last Friday and spent the weekend balancing fun and work. Pete begins his new job today.
We are renting a nice home in town and that is a huge adjustment for the boys. A large yard on 40 acres way off the road is so different from a yard and a house close to the street! We can walk to the Wal-Mart just down the street and there are several parks within walking distance. This weekend for fun we took the boys to the Stampede where we watched a Cowboy demonstration - which the boys enjoyed until they fired their guns. Then Ty and Drew cried. Pete has some work to do before they are ready for hunting with him!! We also saw a loggers competition including log rolling, two man saw races, and stump carving. We also watched the Alligator show...I never want to be an alligator wrestler...no thanks. On Monday we took the boys to the parade and they really enjoyed that. There is a large Hispanic population here, and Ty especially took a liking to the girls in the bright dresses dancing to their music! Last night we could watch the fireworks from our driveway. That was really cool for me because the boys could be in their beds. We did let Drew get up and watch, but today we don't have three crabby, tired little boys!
We were about forty minutes away from our new house when we caught our first sight of the Rocky Mountains. Drew had no concept of what to look for. I had told him they were really big and the most visible part of them was the snow caps. I told him to look at the sky and find the white spots; the white spots weren't clouds, it is the snow on the mountains. After trying for a half hour I gave up. Then, as we were passing a stockyard Drew exclaims: "Mommy! I see the mountains. Dark with white spots. But that's NOT very big!" I glanced over to see what he was looking at. It was the mounds of feed, covered in white tarps, held down by black tires. Black with white spots. Yep...mountains of feed. We will be taking a trip a little closer to the mountains soon!
So happy to hear you are doing well. Hope you like Colorado, the weather there is amazing! Where are you living? We were in Colorado Springs area for about a year.
